For those of us still patriotic

The youtube video linked is the first public singing of God Bless America. The year was 1940 and the country was just coming out of the great depression and headed for war. The song was written many years before in 1917 by Irving Berlin but was shelved until being given to Kate Smith when she asked for a song that would be uplifting to the American spirit during those difficult times. Scenes from the time period are interlaced through part of the video.
