Thoughts from Tom Pinkowski Sr.

Fall is here and winter is coming.  You can see it on the trees, see it in the foggy mornings and feel it in the evening air. What most don't see is the change in nature's wildlife.
Some of the birds are gone, Purple martins, Black birds for a few.  I have not seen the Blue Hereon in a few days, they may have also left.
The GEESE are starting their way South. They fly at night, land in the newly cut corn fields ( more of natures timing ) in early morning to feed and then come to Candlewick Lake, or any body of water, to rest and sleep on the water where no predators can get at them. They may stay a day or more, but will continue South as the water freezes up. We now know that some stay longer near the Dam where the water has been remaining open.
The fish are also preparing for the winter. In colder water ( ice over ) they become less aggressive and will not chase a bait, so at this time of year they are feeding heavy, to bulk up, so to speak
Just a few observations that I don't think many see.
Enjoy the season.
