After all the hand wringing by the media about the disastrous effect of the government shutdown it appears the markets are not buying it. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (the Dow) opened higher this morning, ruining the predictions. Remember how the sequester was going to also ruin our economy and would steer the country to ruin? That showed deep cuts are possible without serious consequences. We all know it...... but do those in power get it yet? Nope.
The market could close lower today but it will not be because of the shut-down. That argument is gone after the open.
