I have to admit I am more than a little surprised with the response we have received from the community when the board asked for input regarding what to do with the Dockside Grill vacated area. It is normally like pulling teeth to get input. There have been a lot of different ideas, too many to list here but obviously some thought has gone into the ideas.
I was especially surprised by the number of folks still wanting to try a restaurant again. Bravos was something like the fourth or fifth to operate the Grill and none can make a go of it. With the exception of when it first opened these have all been experienced operators. When Candlewick tried to do it on our own we lost our shirts as you may remember. Those attempting to operate at a profit have been unable to do so even with no rent charged, which tells you something.
It will be interesting to see how this shakes out when all the board members have their say on the suggestions. I will be very nervous to spend any serious money on what has been a losing proposition for so long. This is already going to be a tough year with our expenses rising plus the lake work we will be tackling.
As I always say, I am but one vote so we'll see where it goes. The respondors deserve kudos for their willingness to put forth their ideas and all will be carefully considered.
