The goose roundup

I will admit right out of the box I had completely forgotten this was in the budget until it was brought up at the Lake Management meeting. I remember the discussion in budget prep but with all the line items I forgot all about it. I had been asked a couple weeks ago about this and said it had been dropped so obviously that is not the case.
We all know geese are a problem for us. They not only pollute the lake but also leave droppings all over making it difficult to use some common areas. We need to do something. Lake Management volunteers are egg addling already to try to cut the population but some of the geese have decided this is their home and they stay all summer. Those are the ones being targeted, not the ones migrating.
I am not sure exactly how the procedure works but the geese are rounded up then shipped live to a processor where they are handled just like chickens, then provided to help feed the hungry. This will help with our problem as well as doing a good thing for the less fortunate.
Before this proceeds there will be a public meeting for all to have their say. The meeting is tentatively set for May 22nd at 7 p.m. but this is to be confirmed later and I will post the confirmed date here. There will also be an announcement in our official source, the Candlewick Paper.
The actual round up is planned for late June so if you see something odd happening you will know what is going on.
By the way, we will be changing the beach sand this year and goose feces is part of the reason. It should make for a more pleasant beach use.
