BELVIDERE
– The Boone County Gang Task Force will host a public forum
designed to keep the community informed of gang activity, to tell
what efforts have been employed to discourage and inhibit gangs and
gang activity in Boone County, and to let the public know how they
can help in the fight against gangs. With children recently returning
to school, there will be a focus on protecting school children from
gang influences and how we can keep gang activity out of our schools.
Speakers will include local law enforcement, including Belvidere
Police Detective Dave Dammon and Boone County State’s Attorney
Michelle Courier. Parents, teachers, students or anyone concerned
about gangs in the community and schools are strongly encouraged to
attend this forum on Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m., in the Community Building
Complex, located at 111 W. First St. in Belvidere.
From what I read and hear Belvidere is really pushing hard to control gangs and it is working. Congratulations to Michele Courier and others working together to make a real difference.
