And it begins

The budgeting season has started for the 2014/2015 fiscal year. Last night the board held a workshop to view the requests for funding of extraordinary items from the departments and commissions. The list was long, the discussions serious, and the cuts deep. That is what these meetings are for, to trim the wish lists down to what can be handled in the next cycle. No binding votes can be taken at workshops so this is an early step. Last year the budget debate really ruffled some feathers on the board and it may again this year. Eventually there will be a decision and some of us again may not like the end result but unlike the federal government things will continue to hum along. This is not fun..... but necessary.
