BELVIDERE — Police raided a residence Wednesday in Candlewick, where they found thousands of dollars in merchandise stolen from Walmart stores.
Derrick Fiegel, 30, and Kameron Morris, 29, both of Poplar Grove, were arrested Jan. 25. Each has been charged with two counts of felony retail theft.
Belvidere police executed the search warrant in the 300 block of Constitution Drive; authorities seized large-screen televisions, computers, tools, various electronic devices and a lawnmower.
Belvidere detectives worked with Walmart loss-prevention officers over the past month.

Retail theft is a Class 4 felony, punishable by one to three years in prison.
“This is an excellent example of responding patrol officers who took key pieces of information from witnesses and loss prevention officers,” police Chief Jan Noble said. “They turned the case over to investigators who did an outstanding job in following up, which led to the subsequent arrest and search warrants.”
