Tuesday morning at dawn I looked out at the lake and there it was, the first skim of ice. A lot of the lake was covered in the thin sheet but in looking at the weather forecast it will be gone by the weekend if not sooner. This could prove to be one heck of a good year for ice fishing since there was zero fishing pressure on the lake for weeks this summer due to the algae bloom. Enjoy the winter. If we have another summer like the last one with the drought and heat it could be tough on the lake once more.
(Did you notice how thin the ice is in this picture? No way would I be on ice of that depth)
