A couple years ago Rich DeVries contacted the Rockford Register Star about our 40th anniversary. They sent out a reporter to do a story. We gave her a tour, pointing out all the amenities as well as the little known facts, like the cemetery. She was given a good history of our development and we even treated her to lunch. She seemed to be very impressed then went back to the paper. The story was immediately killed and never ran.
This spring when we had the problem with AQUA pumping reporters loved to report the issue. After the questionable reports were aired a reporter interviewed Don Parisi and I believe Tracy Carter, who filled them in on the actions being taken and the truth about the story. Again the story was killed.
Recently Channel 23 ran a story when AQUA was pumping into their own plant to avoid a problem. They made our lake sound like a cesspool. A reporter then contacted Tracy Carter for comments. Again I believe he filled in the story for them about how this pumping was not hazardous. The story was killed.
I am not usually a conspiricist but it sure seems odd the negative stories are pushed to the hilt and the positive buried. Are they envious of our what they consider elitist lifestyle or is it just the sensationalism they want. Probably the latter but I for one am tired of the unbalanced aspect of this.
What can we do about it? You tell me.
