Disturbing? Not to me! (From Fox News)

All this means to me is people are tired of being asked to not protect themselves from muggers, home invaders, rapists, and mass killers to name but a few. The police can not be everywhere at once and it is time we help by not just standing by hoping for help to arrive. Most of you know I have a concealed carry permit and I hope many of you do as well. Our families and friends deserve protection as do we.

County Sheriff cars

Some of you may be wondering why you are seeing more Sheriff's cars in our community. Our new Boone County Sheriff indicated during his campaign he was going to be sure we get the coverage we deserve as a population center and he is sticking with his word. I know I am seeing much more coverage and it is wonderful. Our Public Safety department has a close working relationship with Sheriff Ernest and that is so good to see. The perception seemed to be in the past since we have our own Public Safety we could be ignored for the most part. Those days are over and we are all the better for it. If you see their cars be happy. It is a good sign!

A winter quote

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”

What are they building?

The "Gator"
You may have noticed our maintenance guys working on a small building next to the pool house. That is the new garage for the "Gator" that is used in the winter for lake patrol as well as other winter uses. We budgeted for this when we realized it was working well last winter. Now you know!

Lock 'em up!

We have had some problems recently with items being stolen from cars in driveways. From the reports I get it seems these are unlocked cars. They are not being broken into, they are just easy targets when the doors are unlocked. I have no way of knowing but I would bet dollars to doughnuts as they say this will turn out to be some kids getting away with what they can. Let's not make it easy for them. Lock the cars and discourage this type activity.
