Karl Steiskal the bear hunter
Well, I just received a call from Karl. It seems last night he was letting his dogs out and they were whining and not wanting to go. Then he heard a growl from the next door neighbor's yard. The bear was there. Karl couldn't see it but he called 911 and they dispatched a deputy. By the time he got there the bear had moved on. Karl swears he wasn't drinking. (kidding Karl) Today his dogs are still skittish.
Where will he be next? Who knows, but I would love to see him. (The bear I mean)

Your Sunday smile
Dear Heavenly Father,
So far, today, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped or lost my temper. I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, or self centered. I'm really happy about that so far. But in a few minutes I'm going to be getting out of bed and then I'm going to need a lot of help. Thank you! Amen

Dandy Donuts
Another action by your board Tuesday evening was to allow Dandy Donuts to bring a mobile unit to sell donuts at specified Candlewick events. The donuts will be freshly produced right at the unit so they will be warm and delicious. The franchise owners live here in Candlewick and wish to donate part of their proceeds to Candlewick to use as we see fit. Their store is located on East Riverside in Rockford and has been very successful. I wish them all the best and appreciate their kind donation to our community.

The goose is cooked!
It came as no surprise to me when the resolution was passed last night authorizing the Goose Round-up. When a goose produces more feces in a day than an average human something has to be done. To me they are a safety hazard, an added yearly expense for us, and make some public areas aesthetically disgusting.
The goose count came in at over 50 and the vote was unanimous to proceed. The meat will go to food pantries.

Special meeting
June 3, 6 p.m. at the Rec Center there will be a short board meeting. The only purpose of the meeting is to vote up or down the resolution regarding the goose round-up. I do not know the geese count at this point but we were told if there are not at least 15 counted there will be no round-up. I can not imagine not having that many so the vote will come.
